Toric lenses are created form surface section of an oval surface. The len's surface has two different curves. It means the X-coordinate and Y-axis are different curves.
The advantage:
1. Toric designs in the biggest curve, such as 9, 10D base, when the designers use the conventional 9&10D base, the lenses aren't so suited the our face. The lenses protrude and always look like a semi-ball from side face. And because the biggest curve, sometimes there are some PD problems. But the toric lens will eliminate the semi-ball, they will be more suitable to our face and easy for right PD.
2. And typically have clear field of view and low prism in a zone surrounding in the line of sight
